Yesterday evening took place the official opening ceremony of the 22nd session of the General Assembly of the Inter-American Masonic Confederation. The event was organized in the Noble Temple of the Grand Orient of Brazil.
The presidium was occupied, among others, by the Grand Master General of the GOB, President of IMC, Executive Secretary of th IMC, former CMSB's Secretary General, Grand Master of the Argentina etc. In his opening speech, IMC's President recalled that Latin America and parts of Europe are in (Masonic) conflict. He also recalled that Latin America is a continent rapidly growing where different countries are signing treaties and agreements to increase cooperation. Finally, he reminded all those present that on April 14, 2012, IMC will celebrate its 65 anniversary.

Marcos Jose da Silva welcomed all the guests and reminded GOB's unique administrative structure which consists of three powers: executive, legislative and judiciary, being the sole Obedience in the world where these three structures are independent. He continued his speech with the presentation of all State (Provincial) Grand Masters and mentioned that GOB is working according to six rites: AASR, Emulation, York (other than that used by the Americans), Adonhiramita (of French origin), Brazilian (practiced only in Brazil), Modern (of French origin) and Schröder (of German origin).

IMC's Executive Secretary presented the activity report of IMC, speaking about the problems of each area of the IMC and also talking about various future projects such as humanitarian, social and educational.
After this event there was a dinner given by the Grand Orient of Brazil in the Masonic Palace in Brasilia.
